Written on Maryville schools discussion on music curriculum has parents at crescendo pitch:

in response to sunshine:

That's what it is. A mess.

and, so is Blount County...

Written on Maryville schools discussion on music curriculum has parents at crescendo pitch:

could be that Maryville City Schools are following the rest of what's happening in Maryville...no leadership...the Chamber hasn't done anything for years and there hasn't been an effective County Mayor for years...

Written on Mike Casteel steps down as principal of Maryville High School:

I've never seen so many changes in a school system....there has to be another side...

Written on Closing Fort Craig: Maryville City School board makes decision to close school, reconfigure grades:

I'm sure you and other FC parents have voiced your opinion on the closing of FC, and although the kids range in ages from 5-10, the older kids understand what has happened. they aren't dumb... I don't mean that they will necessarily have a negative attitude, but it might not be that easy of a transition given the unique curriculum that they are coming from.

Written on Fort Craig will close:

there is no leadership in Maryville/Blount County and there hasn't been for quite awhile. Good thing Maryville College is here and the airport; otherwise this would be a pretty sad little community.

Written on Closing Fort Craig: Maryville City School board makes decision to close school, reconfigure grades:

I think you will survive...let's just hope that the FC students/parents don't go to the other schools with an "attitude". Perhaps someday, we will learn the truth on why they closed the school.

Written on Fort Craig Controversy: Administrators, school board and parents offer their perspectives:

you want to save money? merge some school systems..3 systems in one county? ridiculous. but, can you imagine the comments? Maryville/Blount County is changing and one day it may not be such a desired place to live. pretty pitiful leadership..

Written on Fort Craig Controversy: Administrators, school board and parents offer their perspectives:

why would you consider closing an elementary school with what appears to have the highest test scores? hmmm..someone must have really gotten on the wrong side of the school board. my kids went to John Sevier and got an excellent start in their education. BTW..each child went on to get a master's degree and is doing very well in their respective careers. all the parents that I've known whose kids went to Fort Craig always felt "superior" to the rest of us. so, what's the big deal? your children will still be in the Maryville school system and hopefully you will still be an involved parent. In fact, I bet your brilliant children will now raise the test scores in Foothills, John Sevier and Sam Houston. I'm sure everyone in Maryville will sincerely thank you.

Written on Fort Craig Controversy: Administrators, school board and parents offer their perspectives:

would be interesting to see what the test scores are for each of the elementary schools.

Written on Blount Countians turn out for Haslam inauguration:

well. pretty soon the Haslam kool-aid will run dry..

a nice guy, but clearly he is not ready for the job.

Written on Mark Cate named special assistant to Governor Bill Haslam:

just read your postings and now I see where you are coming from...you mix Mayberry sayings in with current topics and so maybe you think Haslam was elected Governor of Mayberry. hey..we are in a new decade just in case...

Written on Mark Cate named special assistant to Governor Bill Haslam:

hey. no problem..I know the truth is hard to hear.

Written on Mark Cate named special assistant to Governor Bill Haslam:

this is one campaign that had the media in its pocket and all the money...easy to keep the trains on time. If Bill is going to be such a great Governor, why couldn't he close the deal early in the primary? he won because of his last name and his "nice-guy" image. I doubt he would have won if his name was Bill Cate. let's see how things are in 6 months and it won't matter about keeping those trains on time.

Written on Leidig named director of marketing at Maryville College:

you forgot to add that she worked at ORAU for a short time.
