</title><link>http://www.blounttoday.com/news/2010/jan/25/witch-wizard-james-patterson/?partner=RSS</link><description>I don’t abandon books. I love to read, read a variety of different kinds of books and finish them all. That’s not to say I haven’t struggled through some, but, most of the time, I can find a few redeeming qualities that at least make me glad I stuck with it.
I now have a list of books I just could NOT bring myself to finish.

I am a creature of habit, and I often will choose the familiar, the comfortable over something that’s main redeeming quality is that it is “new.”
In addition to that personality trait, I am a firm, staunch believer in the old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Put those two together, and you might understand my negative reaction to the news that Scripps was going to make some pretty major changes to their website platforms, and Blount Today would be included in the changes.

</title><link>http://www.blounttoday.com/news/2009/oct/14/dear-readers-oct-15-2009/?partner=RSS</link><description>A couple of weeks ago, I was privileged to speak at a luncheon gathering in Knoxville of the fine women of the Friday Book Club.
This book club has a proud history and a long tradition in East Tennessee. Matter of fact, they will celebrate their 100th birthday next year.
I was equally shocked and honored when they ask if I would come and do a program for them. I knew it couldn’t have anything to do with my own book club expertise, as our little fledgling book club is not quite two years old and a bit dysfunctional (we like it that way!).
