  • Tennessee Army National Guard Specialist Michael Burnash, of Maryville, is reunited with his wife, Anjelica, and son, Michael Jr., upon arriving Thursday in Smyrna with other soldiers of the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. The 3,400 soldiers of the 278th, who mobilized in December of 2009, are coming home from Iraq six months earlier than expected. Units began returning in mid-June and have continued each week.
  • Riley Blue Loope checks all the flowers and underneath flower pots looking for Lady Bugs and Rolly Polys when this beautiful yellow butterfly found her. She named it Ava Grace.
  • Sean Harris was the winner of the 2010 Tuckaleechee District Pine Wood Derby. Presenting the trophy to Sean is the BSA Tuckaleechee District Executive, Dylan Theg. Sean is a member of the local Cub Scout Pack 87 and is in third grade at Fort Craig Elementary.
