  • The officers of the Mary Blount Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) hosted the annual Prospective and New Member Brunch at the home of Chapter Regent Lynda Williams on August 13.  The video “Today’s DAR” was shown to give an overview of the many projects and activities of the DAR on the national and local level.  Officers shared highlights of the chapter activities, and chapter registrar Debra Wilson outlined the application process. Seated in front are Vice Regent Elaine Russell and Regent Lynda Williams.   • 2011 Greenback 9 and 10 Year Dixie Youth All-Stars won the District 8 Championship. In the 7 games of sub-district and district tournament play, the undefeated Greenback Cherokees scored a total of 83 runs including 4 “out of the park” home runs and allowed opposing teams only 9 runs. The District 8 Champs advanced on to the TN Dixie Youth AAA State Tournament held in Mt. Pleasant. Greenback finished 8th out of 837 teams that make up the TN Dixie Youth 9 and 10 year old league.   • Robby Ferguson, a William Blount High School junior, took home first place wins in the 2011 Pilot Greater Knoxville Open Tennis Tournament in August. He placed first in both the boys 16 and under and 18 and under singles divisions.
