The Blount Count Sheriff Office Citizens Academy Alumni Association recently toured the new Knoxville FBI facility. The purpose of the alumni organization is to unite the alumni of past Citizen’s Academy classes to provide support to the employees of the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and to increase public awareness and community support of local law enforcement.

  • Tremont just hosted the annual conference for the Association of Nature Center Administrators (ANCA). The conference had just under 200 participants from 37 states and Canada on Tremont’s campus for 4 days.

  • Brooke Longhurst celebrating her sixth birthday at a cookout in the Cades Cove picnic area. Her birthday was Aug. 12. Brooke is the daughter of Glen and Emily Longhurst and granddaughter of Glen and Hiroko Davis of Maryville, and the granddaughter of Bill and Elaine Longhurst of Guthrie, Ky.
  • Hunter Anderson, Austin Burchell and Marshall Cooper enjoy a fun day at Dollywood in August.
  • On Saturday, May 28, at 7:30 in the evening, Kelli LeighAnne Landers, daughter of Gregg and Kim Landers of Maryville, was united in marriage with William Jacob Little, son of Lannis and Leann Little of Maryville. The outdoor wedding ceremony was held at the home of Pamela Guider, the bride’s aunt. A cake and punch party was held following the ceremony. Kelli is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and is employed as a Registered Nurse at Blount Memorial Hospital. Jacob is an Applications Analyst for the Information Systems Department at Blount Memorial Hospital. After a honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, they are at home in Maryville.
  • Trista Holder was the first place winner in the 12-to-14 year old division of the Champions Junior Golf Summer Tour.
  • The Little T Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation held their first “Appalachian Valley Assisted” youth turkey hunt this past spring.
