Seventeen members of the Tuckaleechee Garden Club of Townsend, a member of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, entered the Tennessee Valley Fair Flower show. Designs  featured “Characters,Customs, and Celebrations,” while horticulture included several categories including succulents, cacti, potted foliage plants, and seasonal perennials.   • The Blount County Association of Realtors recently held their annual  election of officers and board of directors.   • The Blount County Association of Realtors welcomes new member Jon Simerly of Williams Realty. Immediate Past-President Kay Lamuno recently had the pleasure of swearing in Simerly at the BCAR General Membership Meeting.
  • Christy Coulter and Scott Pugh are excited to have a big new bookstore at Pellissippi State Blount County Campus.
  • Cameron Thomas at The Fort Loudon Living History event. He is the Tennessee Division President of the Children of the Confederacy and a member of the Sam Davis 647 chapter.

  • New Student Orientation leaders gathered with faculty and Assistant Dean Holly Burchett at the Pellissippi State Blount county campus to get the new year rolling.
  • On August 7 in conjunction with the annual Stephens Family Reunion, the Capt. W. Y. C. Hannum Chapter 1881 United Daughters of the Confederacy assisted by the Savage Stewart Camp 522 from Piedmont, Ala., and the Capt. John Rayburn Camp 452 from Marshall County, Ala., Sons of the Confederate Veterans presented a Confederate Grave Marker Dedication Ceremony to commemorate the life and service of Confederate Veteran Elijah Bluford Stephens, 5th Sgt. Alabama Cavalry Co.
