  • The Elizabeth Paxton Houston Society Children of the American Revolution led the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution prior to the ringing of the bells at the Constitution Week Bell Ringing held Sept. 21 on the grounds of the Blount County Court House.   • A group of Mary Blount Elementary teachers and friends spent fall break aboard the Carnival Fantasy for a cruise to the Bahamas.
  • This group enjoyed a fun-filled picnic get together at Metcalf Bottoms in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park recently. The group pictured are the Laurel Valley Luncheon Ladies and Domino Divas which include, Teddi Edwards, Jane Eastman, Lois Ann Wodarsk, Blanie Scroggins, Kay Tinsley, Barbara Leach, Patti Jalenski, Martha Sundquist, Melody Silverman, Marilyn Kuhn, Linda Gullufsen, Donna Pabst, Linda Rose, Becky Dannelley, Charlie Graham and Carol Weiner.
  • Tuckaleechee Garden Club members Florence Byrd and Charlotte Miller awarded the September Yard of the Month to Mildred Taylor of Walland. Mrs. Taylor is pictured in front of a bank of knockout roses which she regularly trims. The front lawn slopes down to the road and features a variety of cannas, hostas, flowering trees and vines as well as seasonal flowers.
