Employees at the East Tennessee Military Association Federal Credit Union (ETMAFCU) published a cookbook called American Treasures to support HonorAir Knoxville, an organization dedicated to flying East Tennessee World War II veterans free of charge to Washington, D.C., to see the Memorial built in their honor. Rick Mikels, ETMAFCU manager, left, and Gina Patty, marketing director presented a check for $4,000 to Eddie Mannis, president of Prestige Cleaners and chairman of HonorAir Knoxville, right. The cookbook is available for $10 at all Prestige stores and at the ETMAFCU office in Louisville. They can also be purchased at www.honorairknoxville.com. All proceeds from the sale of the book go directly to HonorAir Knoxville.

  • Maryssa Vales, 10 months, is the daughter of Daniela Babet and Brandon Vales. She is the granddaughter of Thomas and Sandra Vales of Maryville.
  • Maryville Magic 10U girls fast-pitch travel softball team finished with a first place win in an eight team tournament in Crossville.   • In April, the General James Longstreet Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy, joined by members of the sponsoring Captain W.Y.C. Hannum UDC, placed a memorial wreath on the grave of CSA Corporal Hugh L.W. Singleton at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Blount County. Also marked was the grave of CSA Private Grigsby Willocks. Pictured in front are John T. Testerman III and Madison Gallostra. In back from left are Florence Byrd, Cheyenne Miller, Tyler Martin, Vicky Moya, Debra Wilson, Elaine Russell, Sheryl Gallostra, Dylan Moya and Charlotte Miller. The stone was placed and marked originally by the UDC and CoC in 2006 after the restoration of Mt. Moriah cemetery.
  • Alex Gregory poses proudly with his turkey he killed on the opening day of the youth hunt. The turkey weighed in at 18 pounds.
