  • Elizabeth Bonita Kiles celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 29 at Shannondale of Maryville. Born in Loretta, Kentucky, she attended St. Catherine’s Academy in Holy Cross where she learned to play the violin. Later she taught herself to play the organ and enjoys music still. She moved to Maryville in 2004 with her son and daughter-in-law, James and Rebecca Kiles. She says her earliest memory is of watching the victory parade at the end of World War I. She married Max Kiles in 1941. During World War II, Elizabeth assembled parts for bombs at a factory in Angola, Indiana. She completed cosmetology school at the age of 50. She has 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
