At the 32nd Annual Dining-In Awards Banquet held April 28 at William Blount High School, General Henry Knox Chapter, US Daughters of 1812, presented the 1812 ROTC medal to Cadet Major Elias Sapp.  Cadet Major Sapp is a Senior member of the TN 793rd Air Force Junior ROTC Group at William Blount High School.   • Heritage High School student Brandon Storz recently placed first in Technology Concepts at the State of Tennessee FBLA Conference.
  • Alcoa Lady ‘T’s won the Blount County Middle School Volleyball Tournament which was held at Eagleton Middle School in April. Teams participating in the tournament were Eagleton, Heritage, Union Grove, Carpenters, Alcoa and Maryville Middle Schools. Alcoa Middle School defeated Maryville Middle in the championship match. The Alcoa varsity volleyball team members are Ainsley Ellington, Emily Stubblefield, Mia Taylor, Julia Vickers, Meagan Wells, Ellie Bailes, Tameika Sudderth, Elizabeth Boyd, Candace Bolton, Madison Himes, Octavia Lenoir and Kianna Goddard. The Alcoa team is coached by Julie Dalton and assistant coach Carrie Bledsoe. Named to the All-Tournament team were Cassie Jones (Eagleton), Shelby Griffiths (Carpenters), Lauren Jones and Emily Huffer (Maryville), and Mia Taylor, Emily Stubblefield and Julia Vickers (Alcoa).
