  • The Captain W.Y.C. Hannum 1881 Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, donated Confederate History Compendium of Tennessee, to the Blount County Library in commemoration of Confederate History Month.  This 1100 page book is the Sesquicentennial Project of the Tennessee Division United Daughters of the Confederacy and includes information about Confederate activity, monuments,CSA enlistment units, Confederate pension applications from each Tennessee County.   • Heritage Middle School boys golf team won the East Tennessee Middle School Golf Association state championship.  The team includes Hunter Bailey, Brandon Nichols, Taylor Simerly, Spencer Rothery and Aaron Wilson with the instruction of Coach Clint Juday.  Taylor Simerly, Hunter Bailey and Brandon Nichols were also named to the All-State boys team.

  • The Mary Blount Chapter, NSDAR, recently donated a copy of “A collection of Blount County Wills with Transcriptions - 1896-1899,” which the chapter transcribed from unpublished microfilm records to the Blount County Genealogical and Historical Society (BCGHS).
