  • Cedar Grove Baptist Church celebrated their 175th anniversary with a month long celebration in May. Cedar Grove was constituted a church in May of 1835. Pictured is part of the church leadership for the celebration. From left are Marilyn Riggs, Pastor Dr. Bob Lynch, Betty Jean Helton, Bobbie Carpenter and Bill Gillenwater. Senator Doug Overbey presented a proclamation from the Tennessee Legislature congratulating Cedar Grove on their milestone.

  • Landon James Courtney, 3, visits his great-great-great grandfather at the National Cemetery on Memorial Day. Landon’s parents are Lance and Pam Courtney of Blount County.
  • Leroy Rogers enjoyed meeting University of Tennessee Men’s Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl when the Big Orange Caravan came to Maryville and stopped at the Capitol Theatre for a fan breakfast.
  • Mallory Bowers received awards as a State and Grand Honoree at the Tennessee Recognition Ceremony for the Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search. The ceremony recognized 7th graders with high ACT/SAT scores and was held at Vanderbilt University.
  • The Feiel boys are enjoying their summer by playing at home. Stopping for the camera are Michael Feiel, 6, and Daniel Feiel, 21 months. They are the sons of Bob and Stacia Feiel.
  • Shirley Hall, chartering president of the Captain W.Y.C. Hannum 1881 UDC is presented a pin and certificate of appreciation by Elaine Russell, Chapter President for 2010-2012 at the Memorial Day Picnic held by the chapter at the home of Bob and Elaine Russell.
