  • Steve, Tessa and Ezra Wildsmith enjoy a warm evening on Topsail Island Beach, North Carolina.
  • Travis J. Groth was recently conferred a Doctorate of Medicine degree from Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University during the May 14 Commencement Ceremonies.  Groth will complete his residency training in family practice at East Tennessee State University in Kingsport, Tennessee.  In 2007 he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Maryville College.  Groth is a 2003 graduate of Maryville Christian School, where he received the East Tennessee Foundation Gordon W. and Agnes P. Cobb Scholarship.  He is married to Jennifer Hawkins Groth also formerly of Maryville, and his parents are Ruthie and Barry Groth.
  • Haley Katherine Stinnett, of Maryville, recently received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from East Tennessee State University at their May 7 Commencement Ceremonies. Stinnett was a Summa Cum Laude graduate and was honored with the Outstanding Student Award by the Biological Science Department Faculty. Stinnett will continue her education at the University of Chicago.  She was selected from a nationwide pool of applicants to be part of the Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy’s graduate program in Integrative Biology.  This five year program will provide full support to Stinnett as she she completes her PhD. Stinnett is a 2007 graduate of William Blount High School. She is the daughter of Gary and Rhonda Stinnett of Maryville, and the granddaughter of Robert and Lloyd Ann Sheets and Carl and Joyce Stinnett of Maryville.
  • The residence of Vicky and Peter Mueller was chosen as Tuckaleechee Garden Club June Yard of the Month by club members Ursula Gillooly and Ann Sorvillo. Located in Townsend, the impressive grounds are extensively landscaped with terraced beds filled with spectacular blooming hydrangeas and hostas. The entrance is a curved driveway around a raised bed planted with a variety of various seasonal flowers and shrubs enclosed by a stone way.  Flower filled containers and hanging baskets of daisies, pansies, and geraniums greet visitors at the front door. Pictured are Vicky and Peter Mueller on the stone wall.

  • The General James Longstreet Chapter Children of the Confederacy (CofC) placed flowers and a Second National CSA Flag on the grave of Private Robert Willocks in Magnolia Cemetery in remembrance of Confederate Decoration Day commemorated in Tennessee on June 3.
