  • Craig Hurst is pictured with Alyssa Campanella, the new Miss USA 2011, after the recent pageant in Las Vegas. Alyssa will represent the United States at the Miss Universe Pageant in São Paulo, Brazil on Sept. 12, 2011.

  • Five siblings of the Truman and Gertrude Blevins Best family recently celebrated those who were 80 years old and above.   • The State Society Daughters of Colonial Wars held the annual field trip meeting at Townsend in June. After lunch at Miss Lily's Restaurant, the group toured the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center.
