The Athletics were the Maryville Little League team the Athletics were were the League Champions and Tournament Champions ending the season with a record of 16-0. Team members were Daniel Stott, Aaron Romero, Reece Britt, Hagan Webb, Matthew Simerly, Devon Hughes, Gage Sneed, Sean Ward, Seth Cooper, Zach Gardner and Luke Avery. The team was coached by Michael Webb, Jeff Simerly, Chad Ward, David Hughes and Dewayne Gardner.

  • Members of the General James Longstreet CofC of Maryville and the Sam Davis CofC of Knoxville participated in the Confederate Decoration Day ceremonies at Bethel Cemetery in Knoxville, site of over 1600 unmarked CSA graves, many from the Battle of Knoxville in 1863.   • The Porter High School class of 1955 met in June at Courtyard Grille to celebrate their 55th year reunion. 29 of the 48 graduates and their guests were in attendance. Many memories of activities and friendships were revived by the room decorations in school colors of blue and gold.
