  • Teresa James, center, president and general manager of East Tennessee PBS, attended the adult education graduation ceremony of Jessica Ann Green, left, and Maria Perez, right, last month in Blount County. Both graduates received their GED diploma with assistance from East Tennessee PBS’ GED Connection Program. The nonprofit television station provides participants with a set of study books at no cost to the individual and broadcasts weekly 30-minute shows that consist of documentary-style programs to help viewers prepare for the GED exam.

  • Somer and Savannah Gray built this authentic igloo entirely of snow and found it to be very warm. They did their project in the front yard of their home on 1-11-11. Somer, 12, goes to Maryville Middle, and Savannah, 11, is a student at Maryville Intermediate. They are the daughters of Scott and Nicole Gray.
