  • The Tuckaleechee Garden Club of Townsend won first place in the small float category in the Townsend Christmas Parade. The 1941 Chevrolet truck belonging to member Lorna Hale and husband Neiland was decorated by members who wore their garden hats and handed out sunflower seeds during the parade to plant or to feed to the birds.
