  • Several members of the Mary Blount DAR visited with Grayce Cabage on her 90th Birthday on Dec. 17. Grayce is a past regent of the chapter and has served in many other roles during her long membership of the chapter.   • Best friends Jack and Harley curl up on the couch for a nap. They are the dogs of Steve and Tessa Wildsmith.
  • Attending the December Christmas Tea of the Mary Blount DAR was the Air National Guard family of one of the members. Songwriter James Rogers performed “I Guard America,” the official Guards’ National Theme Song which he had written, in their honor.   • Members of the Captain W.Y.C. Hannum UDC and the General James Longstreet CofC placed a wreath at the Confederate Memorial Monument in Bethel Cemetery in Knoxville on Dec. 5. This monument is the tallest CSA monument in Tennessee and was dedicated by the Ladies Memorial Association in 1892 to memorialize the 1600 soldiers buried at the site. After placing the wreath, the group enjoyed a candlelight tour of the historic Mabry-Hazen House nearby.   • This group enjoyed a cruise about the Carnival Triump in September. They visited Portland, Maine; Boston, Mass; Halifax, Nova Scoti; and St. Martin and St. John’s, New Brunswick.
