  • Brooke Longhurst receives a wooden mermaid for Christmas, hand-carved and painted by her great-grandfather Robert Davis. Brooke is the daughter of Glen and Emily Longhurst of Maryville.
  • Mark Denny, left, and Don Combs were the first place winners of the First Annual First Baptist Church of Maryville Cornhole Tournament held on Saturday, Jan. 29. Mark and Don worked their way through a field of 32 teams to capture the crown.

  • The Captain W.Y.C. Hannum Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy and the General James Longstreet Chapter Children of the Confederacy placed a wreath on the grave of the chapter’s namesake Captain W.Y.C.   • Townsend resident Kelsey Godfrey, left side blue hat and vest, is on the Covenant Health Knoxville marathon team and has already lost 29 pounds since Dec. 10. She is participating in the Weight Loss Biggest Winner contest as part of the marathon team.
