The Captain W.Y.C. Hannum Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy and the General James Longstreet Chapter Children of the Confederacy placed a wreath on the grave of the chapter’s namesake Captain W.Y.C. Hannum located in the Hannum plot in Old Gray Cemetery in Knoxville. Pictured at the Hannum grave in Old Gray are, in front, CofC members Tyler Byrd-Gallostra and Madison Gallostra.   • Brooke Longhurst receives a wooden mermaid for Christmas, hand-carved and painted by her great-grandfather Robert Davis. Brooke is the daughter of Glen and Emily Longhurst of Maryville.
  • Mark Denny, left, and Don Combs were the first place winners of the First Annual First Baptist Church of Maryville Cornhole Tournament held on Saturday, Jan. 29. Mark and Don worked their way through a field of 32 teams to capture the crown.
