  • Girl Scout Brownie Troop 20286 of Friendsville Elementary School had their first official outing to earn a “try-it” merit patch and “fun outing” patch. The troop went to Lowes Home Improvement store in Alcoa on Nov. 20 and participated in the I-Built-It project. Each girl built their own wooden snowman picture frame. Troop members pictured are Heather, Casey, Sarah, Bailey, Courtney, Taija, Tristyn, Kelsey and Faith.
  • The Maryville Middle Bass Club held their fall tournament on Fort Loudoun Lake on Oct. 30. Carla Whaley talks about her day on the water with school club sponsor David Clark.
  • At the October meeting of the Mary Blount Daughters of the American Revolution, three new members were welcomed. Pictured are Debra Wilson, Pam Inglish, Jeanne Porter, Susan Baumgardner and Lynda Williams.

  • The Maryville Middle Bass Club held their fall tournament on Fort Loudoun Lake on October 30. Brandon White gets help with his catch from Little River Bassmasters Greg Newman. Newman is the co sponsor for the school club.

  • Shawn Prevo and his mom, Erin Richardson, are all smiles after the state championship football game.
  • Tammy Hooper, vice principal at Foothills Elementary, was on the roof because the students reached their Raccoon Romp fundraising goal of $20,000 and they raised more than $35,000.
  • The Captain W.Y.C. Hannum #1881 Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy presented a UDC Media Award Certificate to Linda Braden Albert at the October meeting of the Chapter held at Green Meadow Country Club.
