Members of the Mary Blount Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) participated in the Stephen Holston Chapter Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) marking of two Revolutionary War Graves on Oct. 16 at Stock Creek Baptist Church on Martin Mill Pike in Knox County. One marked was that of Rev. William Johnson (c1735-1814), a Revolutionary War Patriot and the first Moderator of the Tennessee Baptist Association in 1802.   • The Carpenters Elementary School P.T.O. helped sponsor over 480 packages of beef jerky that were sold and collected to be sent to soldiers in Iraq. In November, students carefully packaged donated beef jerky, along with heartfelt student-created cards, to be sent to three locations to troops stationed there.

  • On Sunday, Nov. 7, Dr. Drew Osborne celebrated his 40th birthday. His office staff had a surprise waiting for him in the office on Monday morning. The staff were all decked out in black and had an “over the hill” theme throughout the office for him.

  • Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling congratulates scholarship recipient and UT junior Jamie Goldberger of Alcoa at the recent Home Federal Bank Scholarship Endowment luncheon at the Haslam Business Administration Building. The bank presented a total of more than $5,000 in scholarships to seven UT students from East Tennessee.
