  • Members of the Captain W.Y.C. Hannum 1881 UDC and the General James Longstreet Chapter CofC place flags on the graves of over 25 Confederate graves at Magnolia Cemetery in Maryville in recognition of Tennessee Confederate Decoration Day. June 3, the anniversary of the birth of CSA President Jefferson Davis, was declared Confederate Decoration Day by Governor Phil Bredesen to remember the CSA veterans throughout the state.   • Alcoa High School’s Tiffany Moore was recently selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Car. The Queen of Diamonds Showcase South and The Queen of Diamonds Showcase North have over 2,000 applicants from which only 264 players are selected. Athletes are selected based on a wide range of criteria including ability, potential, academics, graduation year, coaches requests and referrals. Tiffanie Moore plays outfield.
  • Steve, Tessa and Ezra Wildsmith enjoy an afternoon on Topsail Island, North Carolina.
  • Tyler Hansford, 4, played Alcoa T-ball for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The Devil Rays were the undefeated League Champions. He is the son of Michelle Taylor.
  • The Tuckaleechee Garden Club Yard of the Month for July is the home of Dave and Elizabeth Anderson in Townsend. The Andersons have worked hard establishing their front and backyards with year round interest. They have stonework on their entry steps, patio features, garden art and attractive small pots all welcoming you to their home. The backyard includes a Koi pond and a small footbridge.
