  • Amanda Beth Finley, daughter of Rodney and Glenda Finley, of Maryville, is engaged to marry Robert Gaylon Hill, son of Gaylon and Gail Hill, of Maryville, April 24 at Dotson Memorial Baptist Church. Invitations will be sent. The future bride is the granddaughter of Bill and Rhonda Finley, of Bungalow, Jean Counts, of Maryville, and the late Ellis B Counts. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Robert Davis, of Maryville, the late Haleen Davis, and the late JG and Eddie May Hill. The bride-to-be received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development from East Tennessee State University. She is employed at Little Scholars Christian Academy as a K2 teacher. The bridegroom-to-be received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Tennessee. He also received his teaching license in history and geography from Lincoln Memorial University. He is employed as a lawn technician at Scotts Lawn Service, Chattanooga.

  • Kathy and Mike Gwinn presented the program at the semi-annual meeting of the Treaty of Tellico Blockhouse Chapter Continental Society of the Daughters of Indian Wars held at Green Meadow Country Club in March. Kathy, a talented story-teller, shared stories of Cherokee legends and customs, while Mike performed several Southern Appalachian songs, both featured on their CD “Hills and Hollars.” Pictured are Carolyn Templeton, Mike Gwinn, Kathy Gwinn and Shirley Hall.
