See larger Rachel Harvey, daughter of Fran Goddard, of Maryville, and William Harvey, of Sweetwater, received her Ph.D. in anthropology on Aug. 6 from the University of Florida. Her dissertation, entitled “Tourism is Everyone’s Business: The Participants and Places of Township Tourism in Cape Town, South Africa” chronicles her fieldwork in South Africa in 2007-08. Harvey earned her bachelor’s degree from Wofford College in 2001 and her master’s in anthropology from the George Washington University in 2003. She currently resides in Kailua, Hawaii and works for the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s Clinical Trial Network.
