Blount County Mayor Ed Mitchell, Maryville Mayor Tom Taylor and Alcoa Mayor Don Mull present a proclamation to Mary Morse of the Tennessee Nutrition & Consumer Education Program/University of Tennessee Extension, Blount County, and Maryville City Schools Coordinated School Health coordinator and Blount BEneFITs chairperson Heather Ledbetter on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Blount County Courthouse. The cities of Maryville and Alcoa, along with Blount County now are proclaimed to be a “We Can!” community, which unites and promotes all of the health and wellness initiatives in Blount County. “We Can!” (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition) was developed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to help communities address the issues of overweight children.
