After completing the regular season undefeated, the Maryville Middle School Boys soccer team won the season ending championship tournament in dominating fashion. Maryville Middle School fielded a varsity team of 20 eighth grade boys. The team competed in the Smoky Mountain Middle School Soccer League which has 1,900 players from 16 counties in East Tennessee. The Maryville Varsity team played in the top bracket of the league against the strongest teams in East Tennessee and finished the regular season undefeated.
