The Mary Blount DAR of Maryville received the State First Place Award in Conservation at the State Conference due mainly to the efforts of the eleven Mary Blount members who also belong to the Tuckaleechee Garden Club in Townsend. In appreciation, the Mary Blount DAR presented Tuckaleechee President Martha Frink a check toward the purchase of a bald cypress tree for the Townsend Riverwalk.
