Roberta Dorr became lost while vacationing in the Old City in Jerusalem. She went into an art store for help and met a woman there who made these clay women. Some were as large as life-size. She said she used the same clay that the oil lamps are made of because, “we’re all made of clay” and “if we don’t have the divine spark to light us, then we are only clay.”
