She is a board member for the Blount County Education Foundation and the treasurer for the Knoxville Chapter of the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses. Janet won the Outstanding Instructor Award in 2003 for the Blount County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She enjoys singing and is a vocalist with the Chilhowee Music Academy.
