James R. LaFollette

James R. "Bob" LaFollette, born December 17, 1930 in Pigeon Forge, TN, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Mercy West in Knoxville. Moved to Alcoa, TN at the age of 14. Attended Alcoa schools and especially enjoyed his days of playing football at Alcoa High and Hiwassee College. 4 Years in U.S. Navy. A graduate of Hiwassee College and U. T. Knoxville. Retired after 30 yrs. at Skyline Transportation. He was a member of Calvary Chapel of Blount Co. Preceded in death by parents, Hobert and Polly LaFollette.

Survived by his wife, Phyllis, of 53 yrs.; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Todd Hundley; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kim LaFollette, Clint and Melissa LaFollette, Joe and Melanie LaFollette; 5 granddaughters, Erica, Rebecca, Julia, Olivia and Anna; his special uncle Clifford Messer of Pigeon Forge; sister-in-law, Frances Harrill; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Mac McDaniel; nephews, Mike and John Wiggins and Randy McDaniel. nieces; Mary Love and Kim Frank.

The family would like to thank the doctors of TN Cancer Specialist and Mercy West Hospital for their kind and compassionate care over the last months of his brave struggle with cancer. We know that all who know Christ as their personal Saviour will meet Bob again at the feet of Jesus.

Receiving friends will be at McCammon-Ammons-Click in Maryville (Broadway Ave.) on Wednesday, May 4, from 6-7 p.m. followed by funeral services with Pastor Jason Brown officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Cemetery (Henderson Chapel Rd.) in Pigeon Forge for the interment service.
