Raymond Edwin Bolton

Raymond Edwin Bolton has left many footsteps in the Knoxville area, having retired in Maryville, but is now hiking a new trail.

Ray grew up in Nauvoo, Illinois and was a long-term resident of Peoria and East Peoria, Illinois. He and his wife Carol raised four children in Central Illinois--Steve, Roger, Gary and Susan.

Ray was employed at First Southern Mortgage and Sterling Engineering after retiring from Caterpillar Tractor. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and was active in the Cursillo community and the Knights of Columbus. In recent years, Ray was an active volunteer with the Great Smoky Mountains Volunteer in the Park program and an avid member of the Foothill Striders. He was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Peoria and Maryville for 25 years.

Ray is survived by his wife, four children and nine grandchildren along with a multitude of other family and friends.

There will be a visitation on Monday, July 11 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Alcoa at 9 AM followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, Ray has requested funds be used for either The Bolton Special Needs Trust f/b/o Peter Bolton, Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church Alcoa, TN, or the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
