Michael Sibbald Williamson

Michael Sibbald Williamson, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at the age of 21. He was surrounded by his family. He died of complications due to Sarcoma. He was born February 28, 1989, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, Delaware, in June 2007. He attended Pellissippi Community College - Blount Campus. Michael was baptized at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Knoxville, Tennessee, in September 1989. He was confirmed at Christ Episcopal Church, Dover, Delaware, in November 2003.

Michael’s activities growing up included Brandywine YMCA youth soccer, Camp Quoowant, Camp Tockwogh, Central Delaware YMCA swimming (grade 4), Cub Scout Den No. 1903 in Wilmington, Delaware, Webelos in Magnolia, Delaware, Boy Scout Troop 903 in Dover, Delaware, and Caesar Rodney High School Marching Band. He attended Boy Scout summer camps at Henson and Rodney. Michael was nominated for Order of the Arrow by Troop 903. He successfully completed his ordeal and joined Nentego Lodge.

During high school Michael worked at Happy Harry’s Drug Store, Brown and Associates Physical Therapy, and Wawa Convenience Store. Everyone that knows Michael knew he became a “car nut” long before he had a driver’s license. He worked for Toyota of Knoxville from June 2007 to September 2010 and during his first summer he earned the nickname “Frosty.” He started as a porter and worked in various departments. His last assignment was Body Shop Accounting. He was recognized as Associate of the Year in December 2010. In all of Michael’s activities and jobs he epitomized leadership, cooperation, and customer service.

Michael was predeceased by his great-great-grandmother, Maggie Bouler; great-grandmothers, Cula Lea Williamson and Elizabeth Bennewitz; great-grandfather, Oliver Deacon Jones; grandfather, Percy L. Williamson; uncle, Larry Williamson; and aunt, Judy W. Etheredge. Michael is survived by his parents, Deborah and Richard Crothers of Pasadena, Maryland and Ken and Kari Williamson of Maryville, Tennessee; grandparents, Janice and Michael Sibbald of Dover, Delaware, Lois Williamson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Barbara Crothers, of North East, Maryland; twin brother, Christopher Williamson; sister Lauren Williamson of Maryville, Tennessee; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 7:00 p.m. January 27, 2011, at Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church, 7753 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee.
