Charles William Ratledge, Sr.

Reverend Charles William Ratledge Sr., 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He served his country in the Vietnam War 1965 – 1966 First Infantry, Big Red One. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 76, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5154, and Former DAV Chaplin. He was preceded in death by Parents: William (Bill) and Ruby Ratledge; and Father and Mother-in-Law: Howard and Maude Wilburn. He is survived by Wife of 44 years: Shirley Wilburn of Maryville; Son and Daughter-in-law: Charles (Tom) Jr. and Linda Ratldge of Harriman; Daughter: Carolyn Ratledge Houk of Maryville; Grandchildren: Ashlee Houk of Maryville, Alex Ratledge of Harriman, Tessa Large of Harriman, and Sierra Large of Cookeville; and Brother and Sister-in-law: Ray and Charlene Coulter of Maryville. Special friend of many years: Claude R. Burpee Sr. Also Many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Friday September 3, 2010 at Third Street Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Hickman and Assistant Pastor Lee Hicks. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Third Street Baptist Church to proceed to Grandview Cemetery for an 11:00 A.M. graveside service with Military Honors. The family will receive friends 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to the Charles Ratledge Memorial Fund at the DAV Chapter 76, 2151 Big Springs Road Maryville, TN 37801.
