Johnnie Ray Murphy

Johnnie Ray Murphy, age 81, of Maryville, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2010. He was a Christian and member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He was always a help to others and never met a stranger. He never complained in the six years he was suffering with renal failure. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. Preceded in death by his father, John L. Murphy and mother, Rosie Murphy; brothers, Bill and Roy Murphy, and sisters, June Humphrey and Grace Roach. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Ruby Turpin Murphy; daughters and sons in law, Belinda and Vernon Bryant of Knoxville, and Melissa and Jason McMahan of Maryville; sons, Johnny, Jimmy, and Roy Murphy of Louisiana; grandsons, Donovan Bryant and David McMahan; grand daughters, Victoria Bryant and Kayla McMahan; brother, J.R. Murphy of Knoxville; and several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Jack Hitch officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Cemetery for the graveside service and interment with Rev. Paul Boring officiating as well as full military honors.
