The Maryville Branch of the American Association of University Women will host a drop-in, come-and-go, mingle reception event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, at Willard House on the Maryville College campus.
“We have a lot to celebrate” is being held to honor the Maryville Branch award for the Sister to Sister Summit from the national AAUW “Breaking the Barriers” competition and to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Maryville Branch of AAUW.
The “Breaking the Barriers” first place award for the Sister to Sister Summit was received for the Maryville Branch at the National Convention in June by President Patricia Clark and other members of the local Branch.
Along with the honors, a $3,000 grant was given to the Maryville Branch AAUW. The Branch will be hosting the 11th Summit in November.
The AAUW is hosting the reception to “share in celebrating this award with all who have been supportive and essential to the success of the Summit,” according to the press release.
This year also marks the founding of the Maryville Branch of the American Association of University Women 70 years ago.
