A new face and voice is now the communications and media representative for the Blount Partnership. Jeff Muir was recently named the new communications director for the Partnership.
Muir is from Auburn, Ala., and has worked for the athletic departments of Auburn University, the University of Tennessee, the University of Kansas and the University of Arkansas. Muir has established a 20-year record of experience and accomplishments in internet and public communications strategies, community/media relations, writing, editing, event planning, program development and image enhancement while working for these four NCAA schools.
The communications director for the Blount Partnership acts as the coordinator for all communication tools, including publication materials, brochures and promotions, for the Blount County Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Board of Blount County, Smoky Mountain Convention & Visitors Bureau and Blount County Chamber Foundation.
The director will work collaboratively with all areas of the Partnership to keep the Chamber membership and community informed of all activities consistent with the mission of the organizations. “I am so looking forward to beginning my work at the Blount Partnership,” says Muir, “It already has a solid base of integrity, service, collaboration and innovation, and I hope to enhance all of those strengths and raise the profile of the organization with a wide variety of audiences. My focus is on building relationships and implementing changes that will make the Partnership stronger and more responsive to the constituencies it serves.”
No stranger to East Tennessee, Muir worked for the University of Tennessee Athletics Department for 15 years, serving in roles such as associate sports information director and internet communications director. Muir was responsible for the direction of the athletics department’s websites as well as coordinating publicity for all UT sports and the athletic department. Muir is a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he also worked as a sports information assistant.
“We excited to add Jeff to our staff,” says Bryan Daniels, president and CEO of the Blount Partnership. His past experience and talents will take our partnership communications to new heights.”
