Maryville has announced the captains for the 2011 season, with rising seniors Wesley Idlette, Brad Eich and Alex Anderson leading the charge onto Honaker Field this fall. Maryville coach Tony Ierulli will be in his ninth season at the Maryville helm this fall.

Three-time All-USA South receiver Idlette earned a pair of team awards following his 2010 record-setting campaign. Maryville’s new career reception yards leader with 2,298 yards was named the Scots’ 2010 Offensive Most Valuable Player along with receiving the 2010 Lombe Honaker Team Most Valuable Player award. The Chattanooga native hauled in 46 passes for 526 total yards during his junior season. He averaged 11.4 per catch while scoring a team-high seven touchdowns.

Eich, a junior center from Cookeville, garnered All-USA South mention while being named Maryville’s MVP Lineman. Eich’s leadership and blocking skills helped Maryville protect the quarterback and allowed the Scots to average 287 total yards per game last season.

Anderson, a linebacker from Dunwoody, Ga., displayed his talents in a variety of positions during his first three seasons.

“Alex displayed his desire to help the team by playing in the secondary early in his career,” Ierulli said. “He is an unselfish performer that should excel after returning to his natural outside linebacker position.”

Anderson recorded 46 total tackles last season with 22 solo stops. He tallied four tackles for loss and hauled in a pair of interceptions returned for 71 yards.

The Scots posted a 4-6 record in 2010, which included a 3-4 mark within the USA South. Maryville will open the 2011 season hosting Huntingdon College Sept. 3 at Honaker Field.
