Gatlinburg Film Festival features film by Maryville resident

The Third Annual Gatlinburg Screenfest Film Festival is returning to East Tennessee March 25 through March 27. New for the festival this year is the sponsorship of Ripley’s Entertainment Tennessee.

Gatlinburg Screenfest attracts filmmakers from all over the country to the River Terrace Resort and Convention Center, including one featured this year made by Maryville filmmaker Mitch Moore. With a crop of films boasting actors such as Laurence Fishburne, Billy Bob Thornton, Tim Robbins, and Jason Lee, the festival is raising the bar in 2011.

The third year of Gatlinburg Screenfest kicks off with an Opening Night Party Friday, March 25th, where guests will be treated to complimentary Red Bull Energy Drinks while enjoying a party complete with entertainment by Knoxville’s Einstein Simplified Improv Group.

The festival will conclude on Sunday, March 27, with an awards presentation. Honors will be given to the top three films, a viewer’s choice film, and four outstanding actors and actresses.

Volunteer positions for Gatlinburg Screenfest Film Festival are available until March 20. Discounted tickets can be purchased online, or tickets will be for purchase at the festival, and information such as the schedule of events, movie descriptions, and advertising opportunities can be found on the festival’s website at www.GatlinburgScreenfest.com.
