Blount County’s Great American Litter Clean-Up and Volunteer Luncheon Event is coming soon, and Keep Blount Beautiful is asking for help.
“Join Keep Blount Beautiful on Saturday, April 9, to make a difference in your community,” Keep Blount Beautiful executive director Charlene DeSha said. “We are cleaning up roadsides, parking lots, rivers, streams, lake shores, parks and more. Volunteers of all ages are needed.”
DeSha said the first 400 pre-registered volunteers receive a free collectible T-shirt including child size. All volunteers receive free lunch for their services.
“Thanks to U.S Foodservice a free volunteer lunch will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Maryville Bicentennial Park Pavilion and will be entertained by Pistol Creek Catch of the Day,” DeSha said. “Bring your lawn chairs and relax after a hard day of work.”
Keep Blount Beautiful is also looking for volunteers to clean up litter anytime/any day during Blount County’s Great American CleanUp, ending June 10. “Litter has increased in our area and we need to work together to fight this problem. Keep Blount Beautiful offers free clean up supplies 365 days a year to include: trash bags, gloves, safety vests, safety signs, litter pickers and bag pick-up service when your clean up is complete in all areas of the city and county. Please join Keep Blount Beautiful in this effort,” she said.
