Maryville Small Animal Medical Center has had their doors open since 2010, and decided to host an open house on May 21 to celebrate. The event was a fun time for families, with their furry friends welcomed to come and enjoy the festivities, owner Ryan Jurgensmeyer, a licensed veterinarian medical technician.
“Things went really well. We had a good turnout and had good weather, so it was a good time for all,” he said. “We just purchased the hospital in 2010, and this was our initial open house. We’re going to try and do it annually.”
Jurgensmeyer said employee gave away plenty of vendors’ products, and the children enjoyed the face painting booth. The Maryville Fire Department and the Maryville Police Department’s K-9 unit were on hand, and added to the fun by participating in the dunking booth.
“We had food for everybody and we gave hospital tours,” said Jurgensmeyer. “All the proceeds were donated to the Maryville Police Department to purchase K-9 cooling vests.”
The Maryville Small Animal Medical Center is a full-service small animal hospital. “We do vaccinations, hospitalize sick animals, do surgery, have boarding and grooming facilities, a full pharmacy and a full, in-house lab,” said the owner.
