When the Maryville High School cheerleaders take to the football field this year, they hope to be wearing new uniforms. In order to get them, however, they have spent the spring and summer raising money to pay for them.

One fundraiser had the girls serving pancakes and plenty of smiles at Aubrey’s restaurant.

Cheerleading coach Joyce Spence said the girls raised $1,200 at the two-hour breakfast. “It all goes toward paying for uniforms,” she said.

Spence said the event was well attended. “Everything went really well. We had a large turnout, even more people than we had in the fall. I think we served around 200.”

The key was a good place to have the breakfast, said Spence. “We thank Aubrey’s for hosting it, and we thank the community for coming out and supporting us as well,” Spence said.
