The Blount Chamber’s Human Resources Focus Group is sponsoring a workshop on the legal aspects of social media.
“Social Media in the Workplace: Does Twitter Chatter Matter?” and “Setting Strong Policy and Practice to Support Organizational Objectives” is set for 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Pellissippi State Blount County Campus. Members and potential members are invited to attend. Here are some of the questions that will be answered during this workshop:
*Are employees engaging in social media activity at work?
* Does it make any difference whether they are or not?
* Are there any legal pitfalls?
* What rights, if any, does an employer have to regulate employee use of social media at work, or outside of the workplace?
* Can an employer use social media to discover information on applicants or employees?
For Chamber Members, there is no cost to attend. Cost for potential Chamber Members is $15. Pre-registration is required by contacting Vicky Jones at vjones@blountpartnership.com or call 865-983-2241.
