The final figures aren’t in yet on how much was raised at the 2011 Heritage Happenings Gala at the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center, but executive director Bob Patterson likes what he sees.
“It was the most well-attended we’ve had in three years, which is a good sign. Also with the auction - our numbers won’t be in for a month - but estimates show the auction did better than it has done in several years,” Patterson said. “That is fantastic news.”
The May 14 gala was held in a large tent beside the Heritage Center and featured delicious food, entertainment and auction items from art to getaways as close as Sevierville and as far away as Orlando.
Patterson said the response from corporate sponsors and individual donors was very positive. “Corporate sponsors were strong and people were very gracious and generous,” Patterson said. “The guild and everyone involved were very satisfied, and I’m excited and happy. The weather was very nice with low humidity. We had a nice crowd and great food catered by Miss Lily’s. It seemed everything just clicked.”
