“Laughing with the Stars” shows realtors’ lighter side

Realtors from throughout Blount County showed off their acting skills recently during the “Laughing with the Stars,” show at Green Meadow Golf and Country Club.

The social was organized by the Blount County Chapter of the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors. It was held on June 4 and between 40 and 50 folks turned out, realtor Deborah Whaley said.

“It was basically a social to unite our fellow real estate agents. In this market we’re dealing with, we need to stick together,” Whaley said. “All real estate agents in Blount County were invited. It was a night to just socialize.”

Lynn Waters, president of the Blount County Chapter, said it was a good time to get together. “We’ve had three long years in the real estate community in Blount County. I has been slow. We wanted to jump-start the summer,” she said. “It was an opportunity to get to know our new agents and get back in the groove of things and have fun.”

Crystal Welch with Realty Executives Associates said, “It was a meet-and-greet to get Blount County realtors together. ‘Laughing with the Stars,’ you could come up with your own skit and they were all completely different,’ she said.

Skits included: “The Ease of Getting a Mortgage,” by The Wonderful Mortgage Company, “I Don’t Know,” by Remax and “Very Important Paper,” by Realty Executives Associates.

Welch was proud her colleagues at Realtors Executives Associates for winning. “Ours was “Very Important Paper”. Pat McGill was the queen and she was looking for very important paper and all her servants were trying to be the one to produce it and the Mr. Frank Weiskopf was the one who provided,” Welch said. “The very important paper was toilet paper.”

Waters thanked the judges. “I’m not sure what was more humorous, the skits or the judges’ comments on the skits,” she said.

Judges for the evening included Blount County Mayor Ed Mitchell, Joy Bishop and State District 8 Sen. Doug Overbey. “They were great judges and very fun and fair, and only slightly took our bribes,” Welch said.
