Public meetings planned for Maryville City School zoning

When Coulter Grove Intermediate School opens in July of 2012, zoning will be required to accommodate the new 4-7 grade configuration, along with some adjustments needed in Maryville City Schools elementary zones.

As requested by parents in sessions last spring, the School Board will take up the topic of school rezoning at the earliest possible date, which will be during a board work session at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. Board work sessions are public meetings.

Available at the work sessions will be:

Plan review opportunities: Maps based on the original proposal will be available for review starting July 18 on the district website, at Maryville Intermediate School and at all Elementary Schools.

Input opportunities: Those who review the proposal and wish to have their comments or concerns reviewed by the board may do so on the district website at http://www.maryvillecityschools.k12.tn.us/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectionid=1 or by stopping by the MCS Central Office at 833 Lawrence Avenue.

A public input session will be held at Maryville High School on Monday, Aug. 15, starting at 6 p.m.

At this time, the school board agenda for Sept. 12 is scheduled to include a vote on new school zones, with an effective date of July 2012.

Questions regarding this process should be directed to Dr. Mike Winstead at 865-982-7121.

Yeah, let's all waste our time giving input so they can check it off their list. Then they will do whatever they want anyway.
