Maryville College will host the 2011 East Tennessee 7 on 7 Perimeter Passing Day on July 16. Games will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude by 6 p.m. The event was organized in memory of Cody Bowers, a Scots coach and alumnus who died tragically in the fall of 2007. Thirty schools have committed to this year’s event, which groups teams into pools and allows each to practice their passing game for the upcoming season.

Schools participating in this year’s event include, Alcoa, Anderson County, Boyd-Buchanan, Campbell County, Claiborne County, Cumberland County, Farragut, Grace Christian Academy, Greenback, Greeneville, Hardin Valley Academy, Heritage, Jackson County, Jefferson County, Knox Central, Knox West, Lenoir City, Livingston Academy, Maryville, McMinn County, North Murray (Ga.), Sequatchie County, Seymour, Smith County, South-Doyle, Unicoi County, Upperman, Wartburg Central, White County, William Blount.

Admission is $5 and concessions will be sold. T-Shirts will also be on sale for $10. Proceeds for the event benefit the Maryville College football program.

The East Tennessee 7 on 7 Perimeter Passing Day, in its fifth year, was organized in the by former Scots football players Nick White (1998) and Brian Gossett (2000). The event moved to Maryville College in 2008 and dedicated to Bowers. The passing day offers teams an opportunity to practice their passing game without a tournament format.
