Although you might be recovering from the holidays, take note: Valentine’s Day is less than one month away.
Alex Jooma, owner of Treasures Jewelers in Maryville, has several Valentine’s Day under his belt. The story celebrated its 20th anniversary in October.
Jooma says if you want to give your significant other something special, put your trust in family.
“I know my customers by name. They are like family.” Jooma said, “Ninety percent of my business is repeat customers.”
At the time of the anniversary, Mary “Loretta” Allmon has been working at Treasures for seven months. “You look forward to work, and you don’t dread coming to work. Our customers are an extension of our family.”
Local customers blend with folks from out-of-town attracted to the store. This fall, Jan Edmonds of Boise, Idaho, was in the store looking at selections and said, “This is a very user-friendly store.”
Jooma said although his store is small, he has more inventory than most large chain-retailers. In addition to offering a wide selection, he said they can also personalize items with engraving and diamond settings. The jeweler can even design and create custom pieces.
Treasures Jewelers also offers batteries for watches as well as fine jewelry repair. Most repairs are normally done in house, but Jooma said there are other local jewelers who help him if it is necessary”
For Valentine shoppers, Jooma is offering discounts up to 80 percent off on select items from now until the end of February. The owner said he also shows his appreciation for servicemen and women by offering them an additional 20 percent off all store merchandise.
