At last week’s Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority’s monthly Board of Commissioners’ meeting, Joseph M. Dawson, retired Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of Blount Memorial Hospital, took the oath of office to become the board’s newest member.
“The experience and leadership that Mr. Dawson will bring to our board will be a great benefit to the East Tennessee traveling public,” said MKAA Board Chairman, Kirk Huddleston. “We are pleased that he has decided to join us as we continue to work to make McGhee Tyson Airport a safe, convenient and accessible facility.”
Dawson is a graduate of Maryville College and Virginia Commonwealth University where his studies focused upon hospital administration. He is a state licensed Nursing Home Administrator and has used his expertise in the field of medicine to serve the citizens of Blount County, Tennessee.
He is an active Board Member of Hospital Alliance of Tennessee, the Tennessee Hospital Association, MEDIC, Maryville College, the East Tennessee Foundation, First Tennessee Bank and the East Tennessee Industrial Development Board. In addition, Dawson serves on the board of the East Tennessee Economic Development Agency and is a member of the City of Maryville Public Building Authority.
The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority Board of Commissioners is comprised of nine members, appointed by the City of Knoxville Mayor. They serve 7 year terms.
