Harmony Adoptions is celebrating today after learning the Pilot Corporation is donating $100,000 to Harmony Adoptions for the Harmony Family Center at Montvale.
Founder Pam Wolf said the funds will go toward programming. “We are so excited to let you know that Pilot Corporation has committed $100,000 to Harmony Adoptions for the Harmony Family Center at Montvale,” she said.
Wolf said awareness is building regarding the Harmony story and its plans for Camp Montvale. “We have had many meetings this summer that we believe will lead to gifts that will help us open the camp this fall,” she said.
Wolf said Harmony submitted a grant proposal to Pilot Corp. “They met with us, asked lot of great questions and said we want to be part of it. I’m thrilled. We submitted our proposals at the first of August and they let us know three weeks later.”
Wolf said Gary Price, a board member at Harmony, works for Pilot. “He’s been intimately involved in all we’re doing,” she said.
Wolf said the funding will go for staff who will lead programming. “As we further develop programming, that helps us develop further grant opportunities, so it is a foundational gift,” she said.
Regarding bricks and mortar investments, Wolf said they hope to have six cabins open by the middle of September and the kitchen ready in two weeks. “We really need to get the dining hall construction done so we can use it year-around. The cabins, six of them, we’ll use year around and we should be able to start programming in the middle of November,” she said. “We’re looking for money to get electrical out at the barns. We just got phones put in out here. We’ve dealt with almost all safety issues, and we can start equine therapy in the next week or so. We are moving along.”
